ASU Unveils Pair of New Graduate Degrees

Arizona State University’s  School of Global Management and Leadership (SGML) has added two new master’s programs specifically created and developed to fulfill rapidly expanding leadership opportunities in business.

Starting in Fall 2007, SGML will offer a Master’s of Accountancy and Applied Leadership (MAAL) and a Master’s of Applied Leadership and Management (MALM).

“The increasing number of individuals in leadership positions and the expanding demands on leaders creates a need for these programs,” says Pierre Balthazard, director of SGML graduate programs.

“The MAAL graduate degree will also guide students and current professionals to become more proficient at the skills that are necessary to successfully complete the CPA exam,” says Balthazard.  “The program satisfies the 150-credit-hour requirement and is designed to develop the requisite skills to work as a professional accountant in audit, tax, consulting, financial analysis, controllership and treasury, and to advance to senior-level positions in general management.”

“These new programs include a variety of convenient and flexible options,” says Balthazard.  “Students and professionals can complete the program on a full-time basis in 12 months, or as a part-time option in five semesters.”

The 30-credit-hour programs feature 10 courses, including three in  a “Leadership Core,” five in an “Applied Core,” three elective courses, opportunities for independent study and integrated travel courses, no formal thesis and an applied capstone project.

Application information for the MAAL or MALM graduate degree program is available online at www.west.asu.edu/sgml, or by calling SGML at (602) 543-4622.
