ASCPA Recognizes Outstanding Arizona Legislator
The Arizona Society of CPAs proudly announces the recipient of its Legislator of the Year Award —Arizona Senator Jim Waring. The award, which has only been given once before in the 75-year history of the Society, honors a legislator who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to passing legislation that is simple and fair for Arizona taxpayers.
The Society chose Senator Waring for his commitment and steadfast dedication to issues facing CPAs and ultimately all Arizonans.
“The Senator has a keen understanding of issues facing the accounting profession, especially the importance of income tax conformity,” said ASCPA President & CEO Cindie Hubiak.
Senator Jim Waring was first elected to the Arizona State Senate in November of 2002 and was re-elected in 2004 and 2006. He serves as the chair of the Finance Committee and is also a member of the Appropriations and Judiciary Committees. Before being elected, Senator Waring served on the staff of U.S. Senator John McCain. Prior to working in politics, the Senator’s background included the world of higher education, having served on the staffs of the Arizona Board of Regents and NAU.
The Society will present the award to Senator Waring at a special luncheon to be held during this year’s ASCPA Tax Conference on Nov. 8, 2007. To register for this event, please visit www.ascpa.com.
