Information Technology Steering Committee Meeting
Minutes
January 17, 2008
The committee meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m. by Alan Hardy. Present were members Ed Zollars, Peter Harris and Carolyn Sechler via conference call. ASCPA staff members present were Traci Baker and Cynthia Figueroa.
Minutes
· Minutes from previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) Overview
· AICPA is really pushing this certification and Alan would like to adopt this certification and market it to the CPA-IT professionals.
· Carolyn Sechler assisted in writing the CITP test.
· There are at least 19 CPAs in the IT field in Arizona. Traci will e-mail the statistics to steering committee from all the other states.
· Traci will e-mail the AICPA-CITP application form to the steering committee members.
· Would like to wait until after the April 17 meeting to begin marketing to the membership.
· Traci & Alan will be the “To Go” people for this certification.
2007 Technology Conference Update
- Discussed the feedback from the questions provided to the conference attendees. Below are the results of the feedback:

- Alan would like the IT committee to get more involved with the conference. Will invite Mary Holt to the next committee meeting to discuss the conference.
YouTube site
- Carolyn Sechler provided the video equipment to record the seminar “Who Wants to Talk About Deficiencies and Weaknesses…Oh Yeah Auditors.” Carolyn did an outstanding job in editing this seminar and uploading it to the YouTube site. The seminar is segmented into eight – 6-9 minute parts.
- Discussed having more content on the YouTube site. Requested Ed Zollars to put links to his material.
- Traci will ask “Mr. Excel” if we can link some of his material to our YouTube site.
Seminars
- Discussed having Mr. Excel come out to speak at a seminar. Maybe have this be a two to four hour seminar.
- Traci will discuss this with Jena to see if it is possible to have Mr. Excel come out for a half day.
- Traci will contact Sam Hicks with the Virginia Society to inquire about Mr. Excel.
- Discussed having a seminar on Vista – a more hands-on training.
- Give the participants five good things they can learn.
- Have participants bring their own laptop to have the hands-on experience.
- Discussed having enough power outlets to have the participants bring their own laptop.
- Will discuss seminar dates at the April meeting.
