Mobility Passes in Arizona
The Society is very pleased to announce that mobility legislation has passed in Arizona.
Mobility establishes the limited reciprocity privilege for out-of-state CPAs and improves the ease of movement for all CPAs, while providing the Accountancy Board with the ability to discipline non-Arizona CPAs.
“This is the most significant piece of legislation the Society has passed in many years,” said ASCPA President & CEO Cindie Hubiak. “We appreciated the opportunity to work with the Board of Accountancy to get it passed.”
The idea behind mobility was born from the growing need, due in no small part to electronic communications, for licensed CPAs to gain a practice privilege outside of their home state without getting an additional license in another state where they will be temporarily serving a client.
The Society and the Accountancy Board have been hard at work for more than 18 months to help move this legislation along. “There are many people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen,” said Hubiak. “We owe a debt of gratitude to Senator Barbara Leff for her unwavering support and to both Kevin DeMenna and Ryan Anderson of DeMenna & Associates for their dedication to making mobility a reality for Arizona CPAs.”
Arizona is now considered a “gold state,” one of 28 states that have passed mobility legislation. “Enacting mobility in Arizona is one of the most important accomplishments the Society has achieved,” said ASCPA Chair Rick Goldenson. “I am extremely pleased that we passed mobility legislation in such a relatively short time. It is yet another example of just how hard the Society is working to advocate for all CPAs in Arizona.”
