On August 16, the ASCPA sponsored the “Game of Life” event at the Big Brothers/Big Sisters central Phoenix location. Playing the game of “Life” is a fun, interactive and educational activity to help teach young people the importance of financial literacy. While playing the Milton Bradley board game, the “Little’s” have to face decisions like whether to go to college, if they should get auto insurance and when to buy a home. ASCPA volunteers stress the importance of these decisions and try to guide the players to make financially sound, wise choices. “This is such a fantastic opportunity for the ‘Bigs’ to help their ‘Little’ learn about the importance of saving money, going to college and making wise life decisions,’” said volunteer, Lynn Clark, CPA.
Thanks to all the CPA volunteers that participated; Lynn Clark, Tom Minyard, Michael Calisi, Robyn D. Young, Laura Jenkins, Jaron Carmichael and Jeff Tolonen. Thanks to Kellie Steinecke, Michel Dawson, Ally Clark and Cynthia Figueroa who assisted with the event as well.
