Enhancing the Value of Your ASCPA Membership
Continuing Professional Education
With today's diverse membership including CPAs in public accounting, education, industry and government, the ASCPA strives to enhance members' competence, effectiveness, image, and professionalism by providing high quality continuing professional education (CPE), as well as networking opportunities with other members. Members receive substantial discounts on more than 170 seminars sponsored by the ASCPA. Programs include highly rated national speakers such as Don Farmer, Walter Haig and Jack Surgent, and offer CPAs the latest information needed to increase their knowledge in today's competitive and changing marketplace.
Conferences
In addition to our seminars, the ASCPA offers members the chance to participate in eight conferences created by their peers. Conferences cover specialized topics from Business Valuation and Financial Planning to Governmental Accounting, presented by experts in these fields.
Keeping You Informed
AZ CPA, the ASCPA's monthly magazine, E-news, our monthly electronic publication and E-Flash, our breaking news electronic publication are filled with information valuable to the CPA. Articles on technology, practice issues, marketing and human resources provide useful information. Updates on the profession keep CPAs current. Members rate the AZ CPA as one of their most valuable membership benefits.
Legislative Advocacy
The ASCPA is at the forefront in representing the CPA perspective in the legislature, protecting both the profession and the public. The ASCPA supports candidates who understand the special needs and concerns of the accounting profession and the business community, writes and monitors legislative bills that will affect the profession, and educates legislators on CPA issues before they vote.
Special Interest Sections
Sections are a resource for members that offers information and services that are customized to your field of interest. Some of the benefits Sections offer include: list serves, one- and two-hour seminars, roundtable discussions, electronic newsletters, and resources on Section Web pages. The ASCPA has seven Sections and you may join as many as you would like.
Web Site (www.ascpa.com)
The ASCPA Web site gives you accessibility to the Society 24/7. You can register for CPE courses online, change your address, sign up for volunteer opportunities and more on the site. The home page offers the latest news in the profession and the entire site provides more information about the Society and upcoming events.
List Serves
The latest technological tool for our members is the list serve. Each of the seven Special Interest Sections has a list serve for members to ask each other for advice or to share information. The list serves allow members to collaborate without the boundaries of time and distance.
Promoting Education & Innovation
The ASCPA supports efforts to attract the best students to the accounting profession through the Arizona CPA Foundation for Education & Innovation. The Foundation provides scholarships to the top accounting students at the community college level and at each of the state's universities. Programs that enhance excellence and innovation are recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award. The Foundation also reaches out to students at the high school level by partnering with the Future Business Leaders of America program.
