Other Opportunities

Tax Legislation Committee - This group meets as needed to make recommendations regarding legislative activities. Members of this committee meet with legislators, representatives of the Arizona Department of Revenue, the Society’s lobbyist and others to communicate how legislation impacts government, business and individuals.

Financial Literacy - Learn about opportunities to use your expertise to help others become financially literate.

Speak to Students - Speak to high school or college students about choosing accounting as a career.

Serve on a Not-for-Profit Board - There are many nonprofits in Arizona and many are looking for CPAs to be a part of their board. We will inform you when we receive requests from not-for-profits and you can choose which opportunity is best for you.

Speak for ASCPA or Other Organizations - Speak at a one- or two-hour seminar at ASCPA events or share your expertise with other organizations that are looking for CPAs to speak at their events.

Membership Recruitment - Help the ASCPA grow its membership by volunteering to recruit more members. You will receive training and participate in recruitment events when appropriate. The ASCPA is only as strong as its members, so the stronger the foundation of members the louder the voice.

Media Interviews - The ASCPA receives requests from the media to talk to CPAs about a variety of topics. It is a great way to help the public and market your firm or business. We will give you a call when we get a request that fits your expertise.

Teach Basic Budgeting to the Public - The ASCPA Not-for-Profit Section has partnered with Homeward Bound to teach basic budgeting. You will receive training prior to teaching.

Pro Bono Work for Not-for-Profit - The ASCPA receives requests from small not-for-profits that need help from a CPA, but do not have funds to hire a firm. We will send you any requests we receive and you can determine if it is the right fit for you.

Offering Tax Help for Tax Season Events - The ASCPA is involved in April 15 tax events each year and needs CPAs to volunteer their assistance. The events include TV station call-in programs, radio shows, or other events.
