Commitment to Excellence
In its third year of existence, the Commitment to Excellence program is a series of workshops designed to give ASCPA members an opportunity to focus on leadership skills while enhancing their career to lead them to various leadership positions within the Society, the community and their organizations. This annual program gives ASCPA members the tools needed to become leaders within the organization, and is in-line with the ASCPA's mission statement of enhancing the success of members by providing services, leadership and insight that enable them to deliver value-added services now and in the future.
This year's participants attended three half-day sessions which began in September and ran over the course of three months. Partic ipants learned important professional skills such as the art of networking, dealing with difficult people and empowering the leader within, just to name a few. Marsha Petrie Sue, Dr. Sharon Lamm and Lynn Ruby were a few of the high caliber speakers who were part of this year's program.
This year's 31 graduates came from a variety of professional backgrounds which added value to the program and more networking opportunities. The program was then capped off with a graduation ceremony in January 2005.
“This was an excellent program! All speakers were excellent and I am very glad that I participated. These workshops have helped me in my professional and personal life,” noted one of the participants. “This was better than expected, the three sessions and the graduation are a great value to the profession,” noted anothe r participant.
The next Commitment to Excellence program is slated to begin in September 2005, with the application process beginning in May. This program is free of charge to ASCPA members and there are a limited number of slots available.
