Exciting CPAs - Photography, Diving and Travel Enhance CPA’s Life

Patty Gannon

For years, Nancy Teff, CPA, has traveled to places where they have warm beaches and started combining her love of travel and diving with her hobby of photography.

“In 1990, I took the Scuba lessons and got a C-Card.Later I met a friend who is also a diver—and is into photography,” says Teff. “We traveled and dove extensively.”

She soon purchased an underwater camera and enjoyed photography so much she purchased a 35 mm camera with interchangeable lenses and started to get serious about photography.

“I subscribed to magazines about both diving and photography and took weekend workshops on photography,” says Teff.
“The big disadvantage with Scuba as a hobby is that I want to travel to Florida (or farther) to pursue it.With photography as a hobby, I can take day trips around Arizona on the weekend to take pictures. Over the years, my photography improved.”

Although she still loves Scuba diving and attempts to go at least once a year. She started to travel more for her photography.

“In June 2005, I traveled to Ireland for two weeks and came back with awesome photos,” says Teff who has had photographs published annually in a calendar for Magnalite since 1995.

“Photography is fun and it is something you can pursue without traveling a great distance,” comments Teff. “You can learn it easily by reading books, magazines and doing it and by studying the results. I converted to digital format this year and am now saving a fortune by not having to purchase and develop film.” — Patty Gannon
