Sandy A. Abalos, managing partner of Abalos & Associates, P.C., has been named to the national Small Business Administration Advisory Council which represents more than 150,000 small businesses.

 

 Heinfeld, Meech & Co., P.C. has promoted Kera Badalamenti, CPA, and Kimberly A. Robinson, CPA, to partner.  In addition, Melissa D. Spangler, CPA, was promoted to audit manager. 

 

The Arizona State Board of Accountancy confirmed two ASCPA members to committee positions: Kenneth Udenze, CPA, (five-year term with the Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee) and  B.J. Morley, CPA, (five-year term with the Certification Advisory Committee).

 

 

Highlights of ASCPA Board of Directors’ April Meeting

 

Among other actions at its April 26, 2006 meeting, the ASCPA Board of Directors reviewed the following:

 

Strategic Plan Update: Cindie Hubiak announced that the Society had achieved all of its measurements for the year ended April 30, 2006. She also explained the benefits of using the Society’s Web site for online CPE registration and dues renewal and encouraged each Board member to take part in online registrations.

 

Peer Review Transparency: The Board reviewed the AICPA’s Peer Review Task Force Report. The discussion centered mainly on peer review transparency.

 

CPA Foundation Update: Heidi Frei spoke on the Foundation’s various activities. She stated that the Foundation awarded several scholarships at the high school, college and graduate level.

 

Report from Accountancy Board: Don Bays, President of the State Board of Accountancy and Valerie Elliott, Executive Director of the State Board of Accountancy, reported on a range of national and state issues affecting Arizona registered CPAs.  The board appreciated the opportunity to dialogue with them about issues impacting the profession.
