During this discussion, we will talk about some of the basics of how reverse mortgages work. We will then look at some examples of how they have helped various older adults improve their financial position during their retirement years. And, finally, we will go over some of the tax issues associated with this financial planning tool. By the end, you should have a better over-all feel for when a reverse mortgage might help those you know, and when it might not.

Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon

At this year’s Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, we will honor our newest life member Debra Davenport, former Arizona Auditor General and our 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award Recipient.We will also hear from our keynote speaker, AICPA Past Chair Eric Hansen. 

During his time as AICPA chair, Hansen is focusing on three issues that pose significant opportunities for the accounting profession.

  • Prepare the profession to capitalize on improvements in Technology.
  • Solidify the profession's position in the global marketplace
  • Ensure that employers are investing in all members of the profession to evolve skills and competencies and cultivate future leaders as members of the Baby Boom generation retire.

Hansen has been with BKD CPAs & Advisers since 1985 and is currently the Chief Operating Officer.
