Governor Hobbs Signs Arizona State Budget

On Saturday, June 13, Governor Hobbs signed the budget-related bills (BRBs) that were approved by the legislature on Thursday, June 11. With her signature on the budget, Arizona avoids a potential government shut down.

This legislative session lasted 153 days – only 18 days before the beginning of the next fiscal year and only 38 days before the July 21st Primary Election.

State Budget Highlights

Governor Hobbs signed the $18.3 billion state budget on June 13. Arizona is the first state to fully conform to federal tax cuts in the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act", as approved by Congress last year.

Legislators from both parties took credit for an increased standard deduction, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, a $6,000 tax credit for seniors, and a new child care tax credit. In subsequent years, changes include the elimination of the State and Local Tax deduction (SALT) and replace it with the new child tax credit.

The approved budget also includes a three-year moratorium on data center incentives. Governor Hobbs had called for an outright repeal of those incentives in her January State of the State address but ultimately settled for the moratorium.
