Tax Manager
We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our well-established Tax and Accounting firm in Albuquerque, NM. Balkcom & Company has been in business since 1962 and we pride ourselves in our work-life flexibility that is difficult to find in the accounting industry. This position is ideal for a motivated individual seeking career advancement but without having to deal with the stress of a large firm. Our family-oriented atmosphere would also be perfect for an accounting professional who has taken a leave of absence, for various reasons, but is ready to jump back into their career. This is a full- or part-time position, depending on the needs of the candidate.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Preparation & review of tax returns including Individuals, Trusts, Corporations and Partnerships
- Manage and work with staff on tax planning, preparation, and research projects
- Perform client bookkeeping which includes making adjusting journal entries to produce an accurate, reconciled trial balance using client provided documents
- Communicate successfully with clients in order to build and maintain healthy business relationships
- Work closely with partners and other staff members to promote firm goals
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations with the desire to continuously learn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including willingness to interact with clients and staff on a regular basis.
- Be pro-active and willing to take on any challenge
- Experience with tax preparation software such as CCH Prosystem or Lacerte
- Experience with Trial Balance software such as Engagement or Creative Solutions
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred
Experience:
- At least 5 years public accounting experience
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA strongly preferred
