Financial Controller
Title: CFO/Senior Financial Controller
As Controller of a Scottsdale, Arizona based private equity firm, your duties will include the accurate preparation and reporting of financial statements, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls. You will be expected to play a crucial role in providing financial insights and guidance to senior management thereby contributing to the strategic decision-making process. The selected professional will report primarily to the firm’s Scottsdale, Arizona based Chief Operating Officer on a day-to-day basis as well as other select Estancia principals from time to time .
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review deliverables associated with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) as required by the company’s third-party tax preparers and auditors.
- Bookkeeping Services: Activities include but are not limited to reconciliation of bank account statements & cash position, recording of all income, deposits and adjusting entries, expense allocations, and payroll management /reporting.
- Budgeting / Forecasting / Financial Analysis: Develop and manage the company’s budgets and forecasts. Provide variance analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision making.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls safeguarding company assets , ensuring accuracy of financial data and compliance with regulatory requirements governing the activities of a Private Equity fund general partner.
- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with regulatory financial reporting best practices, while interfacing with the Fund(s) third party administrator, tax preparer, and auditor.
- Distributions and Capital Call: Work closely with Chief Operating Officer, third party fund administrator, and banking institutions to facilitate accurate and timely capital calls as well as Fund distributions, in accordance with Fund(s)’ waterfall ,while considering anticipated expenses, cash flows, individual portfolio company capital needs and overarching implications for Fund and LP level investment performance .
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, or related field. - CPA or proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role with a comprehensive understanding of financial, accounting principles and practices. - Proficiency in financial management software including QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and importantly and innate desire to learn - Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
